当初アメリカ・エピックでは、アルバム発売を保留にしていたが、1968年6月14日のフィルモア・イーストをはじめとする数々のギグでの高い評判をもとに、当時のジェフのマネージャーだったピーター・グラントから売り込まれ発売を決定した。ちなみにグラントは直後にレッド・ツェッペリンのマネージメントを担当し、有名になる男だ。発売後3日間で4万枚が売れ、全米15位にランクされるヒットを記録した。録音はアビー・ロード・スタジオ。レコーディング中、プロデューサーのミッキー・モストはドノバンの録音を同時にこなしていた。エンジニアのケン・スコットに指示を与え、ドノバンのスタジオにたびたび足を運んでいた。ロッド・スチュワートいわく、次の 『Cosa Nostra Beck Ola』 よりこちらのアルバムのほうが気に入ってはいるらしい。「Beck's Bolero」にはジミー・ペイジをはじめ、多彩なメンバーが参加しているが、ジョン・ポール・ジョーンズとキース・ムーンは他の曲でもプレイしている。なおジャケットに写っている女性は、ジェフと同棲していた恋人のセリア・ハモンド。イギリスのモデルだ。日本製紙ジャケット (EMI TOCP50846, 1998年)、デジタル・リマスター盤 (Legacy 66085, 2000年) もリリースされた。さらに2005年のリマスター盤（EMI 8737492）には8曲ものボーナスが含まれていた。ボーナスは以下の通り：I've Been Drinking (New Stereo Mix) / You Shook Me (Take 1) / Rock My Plimsoul (Alternate Stereo Mix) / Beck's Bolero (Mono Single Mix With Backwards Guitar) / Blues De Luxe (Take 1) / Tallyman / Love Is Blue (L'amour Est Bleu) / Hi Ho Silver Lining (First Stereo Mix)

At first, Epic US was suspending to sell this album. But some gigs, including Fillmore East, June, 14, got a lot of good reputations. So, Epic decided to release with manager Peter Grant's recommendations. Sold 40 thousands sets in 3 days, ranked 15th on hit chart right away. On "Beck's Bolero", Jimmy Page and other famous members played. John Paul Jones and Keith Moon appears also on other tracks. Recorded at Abbey Road Studio. During the recording, producer Micky Most was working on another project with Donovan. He gave a few indication to the engineer Ken Scott, and often went out to Donovan's studio. Lady on the cover is Celia Hammond, British model, who lives with Jeff. Japanese paper sleeve edition (EMI TOCP50846, 1998), Digitally remastered edition (Legacy 66085, 2000) were also available. Remastered version was also released in 2005 (EMI 8737492). 前作で見せたロッド・スチュワートのボーカルとジェフのギターとのタイトな絡みをさらに発展させて、よりヘビーな音作りを目指したアルバム。その意図はジェフ自身の手によるライナーノーツからもうかがうことができる。エルビス・プレスリーのナンバーを2曲もとりあげているのが特徴的。『Truth』 と並べて、この2枚をジェフの最高傑作と評する人は多い。当時のロン・ウッドのギター的なアプローチのベース・ラインを、後にベーシストのスタンリー・クラークは高く評価した。一見風変わりなアルバム・タイトルは、メンバーや関係者の間でイタリア風のニック・ネームをつけるのが流行していたことによる。ゆえに本来は「Beckola」と続けて発音することに意義がある。当初はシンプルに 『Cosa Nostra』 とする予定だったものの、レコード会社に反対され現タイトルに落ち着いた。イギリスではアメリカに遅れること2カ月後の9月にリリースされた。日本製紙ジャケット (EMI TOCP 50847, 1998年)、デジタル・リマスター盤 (Legacy 66084, 2000年) もリリースされた。2004年のイギリス製リマスター盤（EMI 7243 5 78750 2 8）には未発表テイク4曲が収録された。トラック名は、「Sweet Little Angel」、「Throw Down A Line」、「All Shook Up (Early Version)」、「Jailhouse Rock (Early Version)」。

This is the developed style of the tight collaboration with Jeff and Rod performed in "Truth". They tried to create heavier sound. The will was shown in liner notes written by Jeff himself. Featuring two covers of Elvis Presley. Some people mentions this album, and "Truth" as their favorite albums. Between members and stuff, they used to call each other by Italian nickname. So "Beck-Ola" should be "Beckola". In the beginning, they had called this album simply "Cosa Nostra". But the record company had resisted. So it had become "Cosa Nostra Beck Ola". Released in UK in August. Japanese paper sleeve edition (EMI TOCP 50847, 1998), Digitally remastered edition (Legacy 66084, 2000) were also available. 2004 Remastered version from UK includes 4 bonus tracks. Tracks are: Sweet Little Angel, Throw Down A Line, All Shook Up (Early Version), Jailhouse Rock (Early Version).

第2期ジェフ・ベック・グループとして、また実際に「ジェフ・ベック・グループ」とクレジットされたものとしても初のアルバム。アルバム制作以前にコージー・パウエルとデトロイトまで飛び、モータウンでセッションを行うなど、当時のジェフのねらいがソウル・ミュージックにあったことは明らかだった。それを証明するかのような、第一期グループとはまったく違った角度の音楽を作り出した。プロデュースとしてジェフ本人の名前がクレジットされている。後のインタビューで明かしているところによれば、実質的にはメンバー全員がプロデュースしたものらしい。レコード会社とプロダクションの都合でジェフの名前のみがクレジットされたようだ。作曲クレジットに関してもまったく同様。

First album as The 2nd Jeff Beck Group, and actually credited as "Jeff Beck Group". Before the recording, Jeff and Cozy Powell went to Detroit and made some recordings at Motown. With that episode, this album tells what Jeff had been looking for. Jeff was also credited as a producer. But in fact, as he confessed in later interview, all the members had rights to be credited. To avoid some problems, Jeff's management stuff decided to credit only Jeff name, but money was shared.

前作で行ったセルフ・プロデュースは、実のところあまり評判は芳しくなかった。ジェフが新作のプロデューサーに選んだのは、彼が青年時代に耳にして「他の音楽を聴く気をなくしてしまった」とまで表現したブッカーT.& MG's のギタリスト、スティーブ・クロッパーだった。この組み合わせはアルバムをファンキーな雰囲気に仕立て上げることに成功した。カバー曲が多いが、その選曲センスはよい。ジャケットのミカンの絵にちなんでこのアルバムを「オレンジ」と呼ぶ人は多い。録音はメンフィスのトランス・マキシムス・インコーポレイテッド・サウンド・スタジオ。

Self-producing on "Rough And Ready" couldn't be called success. The producer that Jeff selected for a new record was Steve Cropper. The guitarist of Booker T.& The MG's, that he devoted in younger days. This combination made the album funky. Recorded at Trans Maxims Inc. sound studio, Memphis. Includes some non-original songs, but even the selections made a good result. Some people call this album "Orange", connected with the album cover.

一旦はジェフの交通事故で結成が流れてしまったこのグループは、構想から数年を経て実現した。彼ら3人の思惑通り、それまでのジェフのアルバムでは聞けないほどに重めのサウンドを目指した跡は感じとれる。しかし、中途半端な印象がどうしてもついて回る。スティービー・ワンダーの「Superstition」(邦題「迷信」)や、クリームっぽい「Lady」など、しっかりした曲はあるものの、トータル感はほとんど伝わってこない。「Lose Myself With You」はニューヨークのエレクトリック・レディ・スタジオで録音。残りの曲は、シカゴのチェス・スタジオ、ニューヨークのウルトラソニック・スタジオ、カリフォルニアのビレッジ・レコーダーズで録音された。当初、すべてのマテリアルはイギリスで録音されたが、満足のいくサウンドが得られなかったため、アメリカで録音するに至った。HDCD 仕様 (Image Entertainment 4421, 1998年)、DTS 仕様 (Epic 4421DTS, 1999年) バージョンもリリースされた。

Jeff's car crash had once caused a postpone of the new band. But Jeff was always imagining of the trio with Vanilla Fudge rhythm unit, even when he was making records as Jeff Beck Group. After a few year, heavier sounded band realized. Because The Cactus, Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice belonged, was broken up. Stevie Wonder's "Superstition", Cream-like number "Lady" were on their album. These were tight, good performances. But when we listen to the whole album, the feeling that Jeff showed on "Jeff Beck Group" was not there. "Lose Myself With You" was recorded at Electric lady studio, New York. Rests were recorded at Ultra Sonic studio, New York, or at Village Recorders, California. In the beginning, every materials were once recorded in England, but they were not satisfied with the sound quality. So they re-recorded in America. HDCD version (Image Entertainment 4421, 1998), DTS version (Epic 4421DTS, 1999) were also available.

当初、日本のみでの発売だった、大阪でのライブ録音。二枚組。このときがジェフにとっては初来日だった。アルバムにはさまざまなタイプの曲が収められているものの、このグループの特徴でもあるラウドさが伝わらない。PAの調子が悪かったとの説もあるものの、ジェフ本人が発売を保留したほどの内容だけに、いかんともしがたい。ハード・ロック系のファンには最も受けがよいが、ジェフのギターに焦点を絞って聞くと物足りない。「Jeff's Boogie」の再演はファンを喜ばせた。来日中のある日、ジェフがティムに「音が大きすぎる」と言ったため、ティムがすねて、ジェフの後ろで歌っていたこともあった。内ジャケットには大きなイギリスの国旗を２枚のアメリカの国旗が両側からはさむステージ写真が発見できる。これは彼らのステージ・セッティングの特徴の一つでもあった。

First official live album of Jeff was recorded in first visit to Japan. Recorded live in concert at Osaka, Japan. At first, available only in Japan. There was no loudness which was characteristics of this unit. They say PA wasn't good, but the performance itself is not good that Jeff tried to stop this album's release. Hard rock mania often say that this is their favorite, but Jeff's guitar is not so solid. Performance of "Jeff's Boogie" made the audience excited. One day in the tour, Jeff told Tim that Tim's sounds are too loud, so Tim has been sulky and sang songs standing behind Jeff. Inside the double-album cover, there is a photograph of the stage that two flags of US surround English flag. This was a fundamental stage setting of Beck, Bogert & Appice.

本人たちを含め、大方の予想を裏切った短命コンボ、ベック、ボガート＆アピスが自然消滅した後、ジェフは小さな単位のセッションワークを続けていた。そして同時に制作を進行させていたのが、この初のフル・インストゥルメンタル・アルバムだった。売り上げ記録はジェフにとって最高のものとなり、アメリカのチャートでは、最高位4位を記録するに至った。ジミー・ペイジの有名な発言がこのアルバムに贈られた最大の賛辞だろう。「こいつはギタリストのためのギター・アルバムだ」。
　ビートルズとの仕事が有名なジョージ・マーチンがプロデュース。当時、ジェフの関心はクロスオーバー・ミュージックにあった。特にマハビシュヌ・オーケストラに強い興味を持っていたジェフが、マハビシュヌの 『Apocalypse』 (邦題「黙示録」) のプロデュースを担当したマーチンを起用したのは自然な成り行きだった。ストリングス・アレンジも彼の手による。
　録音はロンドンのエア・スタジオ。数曲のアウトテイクがある。アナログ盤発売当初の日本版には「ギター殺人者の凱旋」のタイトルがつけられていた。マスターサウンド・ジュエルケース (Epic EK64407, 1994年)、日本製 SBM マスターサウンド紙ジャケット仕様 (Epic ESCA7601, 1995年)、モービル・フィデリティ・ゴールド・ディスク (Mobile Fidelity 727, 1998年)、デジタル・リマスター盤 (Epic 85440, 2001年)、SACD 盤 (Sony 85440, 2001年) もリリースされた。

After the breakup of Beck, Bogert & Appice, Jeff was keeping on some sessions. And at the same time, he was making his solo album. It became his Best selling record, ranked 4th in US hit chart. The famous word Jimmy Page said should be the best praise to this album, "The guitar album for the guitarist". George Martin, known as the Beatles' producer, was on producing and string arrange. Max Middleton tied up with Jeff since 2nd Jeff Beck group, shows a tight approach. Recorded at AIR Studio, London, England. Some out-takes exist. 全編インストゥルメンタル。ただし、ジョージ・マーチンが全面的にプロデュースした前作に比べるとラフな作りで、荒っぽいギターの音が増えた。それがより本来のジェフらしく聞こえる部分も多い。何よりもギター・プレーヤーたちに支持され、いまだに「ギター・アルバム」として名盤扱いされている。以後ステージで取り上げる曲も多く収録されている。また、これ以後、何度かコラボレイトすることになるヤン・ハマーとの出会いはこのアルバム。作曲、演奏ともにヤンの存在は非常に大きかったようだ。ただし、アナログ盤ではヤン・ハマーのプロデュース・クレジットに誤りがあった。CDリリース時には改訂されている。
　ロンドンのエア・スタジオ、同じくロンドンのトライデント・スタジオ、ハリウッドのチェロキー・スタジオで録音された。もう一枚アルバムを作るつもりでレコーディングをしていたため、アウトテイクも非常に多く存在する。モービル・フィデリティ・ゴールド・ディスク (Mobile Fidelity 531, 1990年)、デジタル・リマスター盤 (Epic 85439, 2001年) もリリースされた。

Full instrumental album again. More rough, louder than "Blow By Blow". Jeff's characteristics sounds everywhere. Welcomed by many guitarists, and they think this album as a masterpiece of guitar album. This album includes some songs that Jeff often plays in concert. Recorded at AIR Studio and Trident studio, London, England, or Cherokee studio, Hollywood, CA. Too many out-takes exist, because he once planned to build another album from these sessions. 1976年6月5日のデイ・オン・ザ・グリーンからアメリカ・ツアーを開始。6月27日のノース・ダコタ州立大学で終了予定だったが、好評をうけて7月2日から8月下旬までの追加ツアーが組まれた。デリンジャーとともに、エアロスミスのツアーに同行する形だった。9月4日にはナラダ・マイケル・ウォルデンのセッションに参加。9月10日にはエアロスミスのステージにも参加。最終的にはツアーは9月12日まで延長された。その直後、ライブ・アルバム制作のためのツアーを10月より開始する。10月、11月のいくつかのコンサートからマテリアルは選ばれ、この作品集が生まれた。このツアーは予定より早く切り上げられた。というのも、ジェフはヤン・ハマー・グループ内での女性関係のトラブルに嫌気がさしたらしい。全収録曲の半数近くがヤン・ハマーの曲。ゆえに、純粋なジェフのライブといった感は薄い。演奏はラフ。邦題は「ライブ・ワイアー」。

Jeff and Jan Hammer Group started a tour on "Day On The Green", June, 5th, 1976. It was planned to be finished at North Dakota State University, June, 27th, but the tour was extended. Started again on July, 2nd, to late August. With Derringer, they acted supporting Aerosmith. In these days, Jeff had a session with Narada Michael Walden on September, 4th. And appeared on the stage of Aerosmith. Then again the tour was extended to September, 12th. After the tour, Jeff decided to make a live recording. So the tour again started on October. Materials on this album were selected from the shows of October and November. Then this tour was shortened. According to the rumor, Jeff got tired with troubles of women inside Jan Hammer Group.

ヤン・ハマーとのツアーを終えたジェフは、1978年に入ってスタンリー・クラークと組んでツアーをスタートさせる。そのままスタジオ入りも噂されたが、結局は少しだけ長い休暇のあとリリースされた新作がこのアルバムだった。たびたび名前がリスト・アップされていたスタンリー、レニー・ホワイトの名前はクレジットに見当たらず、1978年のツアーでバックを務めたトニー・ハイマス、サイモン・フィリップスが数多くの曲を作り、プレイしている。ヤン・ハマーも数曲に参加しているのは、1977年のケンカ別れは音楽的な問題が原因ではなかったことを大きく裏付ける。「Star Cycle」、「The Pump」、「You Never Know」の三曲はステージで何度もプレイされている。

After the tour with Jan Hammer, Jeff started touring with Stanley Clarke in 1978. Rumored to make a record with him soon. But there was a bit longer rest, then in 1980 this album was released. Names often listed, like Stanley or Lenny White couldn't be found on the cover. Instead, Simon Philips and Tony Hymas, who played with Jeff and Stanley on 1978 tour, appear on the album with composing and playing. Jan Hammer also plays. Jeff often performs "Star Cycle", "The Pump" and "You Never Know" in concert.

ある意味で非常にファン受けが悪いアルバム。ジミー・ホール、ロッド・スチュワート、そしてジェフ自身と、3人がボーカルを務めている。インストゥメンタルは2曲。プロデュースにはマドンナのアルバムを大ヒットさせたばかりのナイル・ロジャースとアーサー・ベイカーを起用した。シングル発売のカーティス・メイフィールド作「People Get Ready」と、グラミー受賞のヤン・ハマー作「Escape」の2曲は評価が高いが、それしかないのがこのアルバムの特徴でもある。後のインタビューでジェフ自身が「駄作」と言っている。クレジットにはないが、ジェフはギター・シンセサイザーも使用している。

In the middle of 1980's, Jeff told "No more guitar albums". And here it is, vocal album, three singers on this. Jimmy Hall, Rod Stewart and Jeff himself. Later, he said that this album was a result of what the record company forced him. Of course, the songs like Curtis Mayfield's "People Get Ready", Grammy awarded Jan Hammer's "Escape" are good enough. With no credit, Jeff plays guitar synthesizer, too. Nile Rodgers and Arthur Baker on producing.

全編インストゥルメンタル。ある意味で非常に惜しいアルバム。もちろんジェフのギターだけとってみれば、前作で影をひそめていたスーパー・フレーズが溢れているくらい。逆にここまで弾きまくっているからこそ、アルバムとしての完成度までをも求めたくなる。しっかりとしたプロデューサーがいれば、間違いなく80年代の 『Blow By Blow』 になっていたはず。それぞれの曲のクォリティは決して低くはないだけにより痛感する。ライフ・メイズはプロデューサーとしてクレジットされているが、特にプロデューサー契約をしていたわけではなく、三人と同列にたってアルバム作りを助けてくれたらしい。なお、「Stand On It」は、日本の自動車のコマーシャルに使われた。日本で先行発売されたのはラッピング・ペーパー風オリジナル・ジャケットだったが、現在は工場風のジャケットとなっている。レコーディングはジミー・ペイジの所有するスタジオで行われ、ジミーとは録音後に顔を合わせたとのこと。

Full instrumental. So regrettable in some meaning. Jeff's guitar sounds wider than "Flash", so we want also perfect producing. If he made this with the producer like George Martin, this may be "Blow By Blow in 1980's". Quality of each songs are great. "Stand On It" was used on commercial of a car in Japan. First, released in Japan, with a cover like wrapping paper. But later it was replaced by the cover of factory. Recorded in Jimmy Page's studio.

ファンにとっては何とコメントすべきかわからないアルバム。全曲ジェフが敬愛するジーン・ビンセントのカバー。ジーン・ビンセントのバック・バンドだったブルー・キャップスのギタリスト、クリフ・ギャラップは少年時代のジェフのあこがれだった。『Flash』 発売後のインタビューで「そのうちロカビリーだけのアルバムを作るよ」と答えていたが、それが本当になってしまった。ビッグ・タウン・プレイボーイズなる本物のロカビリー・バンドを起用して、自身もグレッチのカントリー・ジェントルマンを弾く。いつものジェフらしいフレーズは1％以下。アルバム発表後、来日の話が実はあったらしいものの、アルバムがまったくファンに受け入れられず、一瞬で企画が流れたとの噂もあったほどだった。ロンドンのタウンハウス・スタジオで6週間で録音された。

Very hard to comment about this album for most of Jeff fan. Every song is the cover of Gene Vincent, Jeff was always longing. In interview after the release of "Flash", he said that in future he would make full rockabilly album,and it came true. Backing musician, The big town playboys are real rockabilly players. And Jeff plays Grestch. Jeff's usual phrase are under one per cent. After the release, there was a plan to tour far east, but the album was not accepted by many listeners, so the plan was disappeared.

ジェフは1995年にサンタナとのジョイント・ツアーを行った後、1998年に入ってヨーロッパ・ツアー、直後に南アメリカ・ツアーを行った。そのときのバンド・メンバーを主体にしてレコーディングされたのがこのアルバム。すでに前年のツアーで演奏されたニュー・マテリアルの多くを収録している。長年のつきあいとなるトニー・ハイマスとジェフ本人が主導権を握って作成された。また「Even Odds」にはヤン・ハマーも参加した。女性ギタリスト、ジェニファー・バトゥンの参加も話題になった。1993年、『Crazy Legs』 リリース後のインタビューですでに「興味のある若いギタリスト」としてジェニファーの話をしている。「Space For The Papa」と「Brush With The Blues」の2曲は1998年のドイツでのライブ・レコーディング。

After the tour with Carlos Santana in 1995, Jeff toured in Europe and South America in 1998. The members of tour band joined recordings for this album. Long-time collaborator, Tony Hymas and Jeff are credited as producers. On "Even Odds", Jan Hammer plays drums and keyboards. Female guitarist, Jennifer Batten was one of the topics. In some interview articles, he had already refereed to Jennifer, when he was asked about interested young guitarists. "Space For The Papa", "Brush With The Blues" were recorded live in Germany.

今までのペースから考えると信じられないのは、前作から1年半のインターバルでこのアルバムがリリースされた事実だ。ジェフのギター以外、ほとんどのパートはプログラミングされたマテリアルが使われている。以前のアルバムに比べても、ギターの存在感が異様なほどにくっきりとしている。前年のツアー後半でプレイされていたマディ・ウォーターズの「Rollin' And Tumblin'」が唯一のボーカル・トラックとして収録されているほか、ハードなアプローチと変拍子の「Earthquake」、ナイティン・ソウニーの「Nadia」といったように、音楽性の幅が広い。「Dirty Mind」がグラミーのベスト・ロック・インストルメンタル・パフォーマンスを受賞した。

It's unbelievable this album has been released one and a half year after "Who Else!". Whole parts were programmer's work, except Jeff's guitar. "Rollin' And Tumblin'", one of the tunes played in the latter part of 1999 tour, is included here as an only track with vocals. Nitin Sawney's "Nadia", and hard rock-like "Earthquake" extended the album's musical expression. "Dirty Mind" won the Grammy's best Rock Instrumental Performance Award.

3年ぶりとはいえ、10年前を思い出せば、はるかにアルバム・リリースのインターバルは短い。その間、ジェフがツアーや、レトロスペクティブ・コンサート、果ては再結成ヤードバーズのためにゲスト参加ながらもプレイしたことをファンは知っているからなのかもしれない。さらにこの新作リリース直前から B. B. キングとのツアーもスタートしている。そんな活動的な様子が音にも表れた作品だ。半数近くの曲に歌詞があるのがいつもとは違うところだが、普通の「ボーカル＝フロント、ギター＝バック」という図式は成立していない。疲れるまで弾いてみた、といった雰囲気だ。プロデュース・クレジットが曲単位で異なる。前作で組んだアンディ・ライトを中心に、ディーン・ガルシア、デビッド・トーン、アポロ440、ミー・ワンといった新しい血を大幅に導入している。参加ミュージシャンも、これまでの人脈からはトニー・ハイマス、そしてせいぜい前年のレトロスペクィブ・コンサートに参加したスティーブ・バー二ーだけ。そんな非バンド的な録音は、実質的には異なるが、近年のサンタナが大成功させたアルバム作り方法を思わせるところもある。毎回のことだが、当初アルバム・タイトルが決まらず、収録曲の何曲かが候補に挙がっていた。日本盤のみトラック14：「Take A Ride (On My Bottleneck Slide)」、15：「My Thing (David Torn Remix)」の2曲がボーナスとして追加されている。

The first disk in these 3 years. But, to remember how the things were going a decade ago, this is a quicker one. We know that Jeff has been touring, playing for his Career Retrospective Concert, and even for the re-united Yardbirds. And the tour with B. B. King has started right before the release of this album. His vitality appears on the sound making. It's not usual that half of the tunes have lyrics, but "Vocal stands front, guitars for backup" is not here. Seems like Jeff kept on playing his guitar until he's exhausted. Many producers were found on the liner notes. And the well-known musicians to Jeff fans are only Tony Hymas, and Steve Barney who had appeared in Career Retrospective. That kind of non-band recording style reminds us of modern Santana, who succeeded in making hit albums with a number of musicians. Japanese CD includes two bonus tracks, track 14 : "Take A Ride (On My Bottleneck Slide)", track 15 : "My Thing (David Torn Remix)".

アルバム『ジェフ』リリース直前からスタートしたアメリカン・ツアー最終日前日に、ニュー・ヨーク州ニュー・ヨークにある B. B. キング・ブルース・クラブ＆グリルにて行われたコンサートをライブ録音したアルバム。通常の販売方法ではなく、www.jeffbeckbootlegs.com を通じてのオンライン販売という形をとった。ジェフのギターが明らかに大きな音でミックスされているのに加え、ペーパー・スリーブ、レコード会社名の無記載など、ブートレッグ・スタイルの作りが特徴的だ。演奏自体は丁寧さとは正反対の極地だが、そんな乱暴なプレイにこそ本来のジェフの魅力があったことを思い出させてくれる。

Recorded live, a day before the 2003 tour finishes, when Jeff played at The B.B. King's Blues Club And Grill, New York, NY. Not available at the record stores in town, you can only buy this through www.jeffbeckbootlegs.com. Jeff's guitar sounds are mixed apparently loud, CD is packaged simply in a paper sleeve, and no record company name or logo are found on its cover. Bootleg style. Jeff's performance is exactly far from carefulness, but that reminds us that we always feel his guitar's charm in that kind of roughness.

2003年に続く公式ブートレッグ。この年の春に行われた1週間程度の南西部ツアーで録音され、秋のツアー時に会場のみで販売されていた。後に www.jeffbeck.com にて購入が可能となる。アルバム・スリーブには14曲分のクレジットしかないが、実際には15曲が収録されている。このメンバー構成になってからのセットリストとしては平均的ともいえる選曲。なお、ツアーには女性ボーカリストのベス・ハートが同行していたが、契約の関係からか、彼女が加わった楽曲は収録されていない。

The second official bootleg, just like it was in 2003. Recorded on the short US south-western tour, spring, then sold at the concert during the autumn tour. Later, it came to be sold through www.jeffbeck.com. Album sleeve has only 14 numbers, but actually the disc contains 15 numbers. The tracklisting is an average one with these members. The female vocalist, Beth Hart joined the band during the tour, but the song she joined were omitted here.

Rhino/ Atco に移籍しての初アルバム。マネジメントの変更のためか、レコード会社のプロモーションが成功したのか、発売直後から派手なチャート・アクションを見せた。壮大なアレンジの曲が多く収録されていることと、64ピース・オーケストラの起用、そして多彩な選曲がこのアルバムの最大の特色だ。アップテンポな印象があるのは「Hammerhead」と「There's No Other Me」くらいのもので、全体的にやや暗めな印象に仕上がっている。2009年までのツアー・メンバーを起用した曲も多いが、結局このアルバムのプロモーショナル・ツアーにはジェイソン・リベロだけを残して新しいメンバーとともに出かけることになった。

His first album from Rhino/ Atco. Not sure, but due to new management or the record company's effort, this album runs up the hit-chart right after the release. The biggest characteristics of this album are: some of the songs have magnificence arrangements, recorded with a 64-piece orchestra, and various kinds of tunes are collected. The songs that can be discribed as up-tempo are only "Hammerhead" and "There's No Other Me", so the whole impression of this album is somewhat darker. Half of the numbers here are done by his 2009 band, but to go on the road after the release, he had to organize a new band, with only one left Jason Rebello.
